Quicken For Mac Export Qif

Rez

Quicken on a Mac has two ways to export all the data: to a QIF file and a QXF file. Mac display setting best for eyes 2017. When I export it to a QIF file, I get warnings and the file is 141K. When I export it to a QXF file, I do not get warnings and the file is 3M. So I'm very curious in what the QXF file contains. QFX is suppose to be OFX which is an xml format. Data into Quicken by exporting a QIF file then importing that file into Quicken. Account in Quicken, downloading your PayPal transactions to an export file,.

Quicken 2017 R5 Windows 7 in a virtual machine
FILE > File Export > QIF file.
ALL accounts selected, and ALL checkboxes below selected.
QIF file produced contains ONLY my main checking account (the first one in the list below <All Account>). Importing to another financial software only brings in one account..not all accounts.
Same procedure in Quicken 2016 with the same settings produces a complete QIF of ALL accounts and ALL transactions.
Large difference in file size. Quicken 2017 qif = 10,266 KB..Quicken 2016 qif = 30,248 KB.
This is a bug in Quicken 2017, which has appeared ONLY in the R5 revision. R3 and R4 worked fine previously.

Weird because just a couple of days ago I used QIF export/import of my production file in R5 to test before answering another post. It brought in all 19 accounts (spending, investment and property) and transactions best I could tell; not perfectly but I wasn't trying to meticulously recreate my file, just answer that QIF did work. Both the import test file and my production file show about the same number of transactions at 30K. I thought that was pretty good. The test file size is less than half my production file so something is going on there.
Adding- I think I only selected transactions; I know I did not select memorized payees. My QIF was 2,969 KB for 30K transactions. I don't think I selected account list because closed accounts came in as active. I think the categories table built itself from transactions.

I just exported using Quicken 2017 R5, and all 126 of my accounts exported just fine.
If you are in an account when you tried the export, try doing it from your Home tab.
I just so happen to be testing exporting of everything to a QIF file, fix up transfers with a program I wrote, and I'm checking this imported back into a new data file.

I just tried this with my production setup and 2 VMs. The data files used were close to the same, but not exact, so I would expect some file size differences.
My start page is the Investing Portfolio and that was the current window. The file sizes of the 'everything' .QIF file and OS were as follows:
    2016 r11 on Win7 7223KB
    2017 r3 on Win7 7205KB
    2017 r5 on Win10 7146KB
My results imply that nothing has changed.

Note the main reason these QIF get as big as they are is because of the exported security prices.
If you don't export the security lists they will be much smaller.
The main reason why I mention this is just so you have a easier file to scan, but in fact this exporting of 'how many accounts over 1' should be very easy to see.
Search for !Account. The first one you come to should be the account list (all of the account names and types). The ones after that will be the start of the transactions for the given accounts.
